Neckties

Silk Neckties

The necktie (or tie) is a long, narrow decorative fabric worn around the neck, resting under the shirt collar and knotted at the front. Neckties are typically available in regular and extra long lengths. Men and boys wear neckties as part of regular office attire, a uniform, or formal wear. Individuals in the military, restaurant staff, hotel staff, and other professional industries often wear neckties.

Neckties create a professional appearance and are often used to convey professionalism. Double Value is your best selection for a wide variety of silk neckties and bowties. We offer excellent quality at great prices with a variety of colors and patterns. Origins In China, archaeologists discovered terracotta figures of soldiers dating back to 221 B.C. wearing cloths around their necks. Paintings of Roman soldiers from 100 B.C. were also depicted with neck cloths.

Types of knots There are four main knots used to knot neckties.
* Four in hand knot. This is the most common and easiest to tie. The knot produced by this method is narrow, slightly asymmetric, and appropriate for all occasions.
* Pratt knot (the Shelby knot) - This produces a symmetrical knot.
* Windsor knot- this produces a thick symmetrical, triangular knot. This is the thickest knot of the four. The Windsor knot is named after the Duke of Windsor.
* Half Windsor - This produces a neat, triangular knot. It is larger than the four-in-hand knot and Pratt knot but smaller than the Windsor knot.

Colors, patterns and their meaning
* Red - a bright red color often draws in attention and can make an outfit pop.
* Pink - used commonly in Japan as a common business tie color.
* Burgundy (dark red) - A classic color, suitable for almost any occasion.
* Blue - a classic, popular, staple color - especially worn for business, receptions, networking events and similar circumstances.
* Navy (dark blue) - A classic color. Perfect for various business occasions.
* Orange, pink and lilac - goes well with white, light blue or other light-colored dress shirts. A good option for spring and summer or for a commemorative event. If not too bright, still fine for formal events.
* Yellow and green - good in spring and summer and/or with darker suit-shirt combination. Green ties are a great match for a classic white shirt.
* Brown - best used for casual events.
* Black - used in formal, black-tie events, by waiters in restaurants and funerals. Also worn with very conservative black business suits.
* White - often worn in court by judges, lawyers and defenders.
* Grey and silver - great with a classic white dress shirt. Good for birthday parties, cocktails, various celebrations and similar events. Grey ties are appropriate for business.
* Multicolored - Usually attributed to young professionals, artists, etc. Such ties accentuate individuality, mood and taste.
* Striped - often used to contrast a plain colored shirt or a patterned shirt with a contrasting pattern.
